Senator Godswill Akpabio, former governor of Akwa Ibom state has revealed the reason why the Senate President seat went to the Opposition Party.
According to Akpabio, PDP could have won the race for the Senate President seat but decided to be compassionate and place the interests of the nation first.
According to the Sun he made these statements on Thursday at a session which commemorated their first year anniversary.
Akpabio said, “If we had wanted to take over the Senate, PDP would have done that. We had the chance to take all the positions.
“But, because we were not greedy, we decided to allow APC take over.”
He stressed that the APC senators ought to be grateful for PDP’s show of candor, “We want to assist the APC government to succeed, despite all your efforts not to succeed.
“APC should be grateful to PDP for not taking over the Senate. It was uncommon.”
