The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will Monday meet in Abuja to discuss the modalities for the replacement of the former Chairman of the board, Chief Tony Anenih.

According to a statement by Senator Walid Jibrin, the Secretary of PDP’s BoT, the meeting is to hold at the Presidential Villa by 8pm although there are no clear indications whether President Goodluck Jonathan will officially step in as the next chairman.

The former National Administrative Secretary of the party, Alhaji Habu Fari from Taraba State in a statement declaring his interest to run as the next National Chairman of the party said “I hereby inform you of my intention to contest the chairmanship of the PDP that is vacant. I am one of the founding fathers of the party. I was the one that took the party to Taraba State. I was the party’s 1st National Administrative Secretary. I was the chief of staff to Bamanga the then national chairman.”

Meanwhile the leadership of the All Progressives Congress has planned a private retreat for all Senators-elect to enable them produce candidates who will contest the Senate Presidency in the 8th National Assembly.

Investigations by a Punch correspondent revealed that the party had packaged a two-day retreat for all the APC senators-elect at a private hotel in the Apo District, Abuja, to create avenues for interactions between them and their leaders.
