The Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has refused to back down on its resolve not to back the newly-appointed Chiarman of the party, Alhaji Ali Modu Sheriff, telling him to resign his position.
After a series of meetings which held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, the PDP BoT led by its acting head, Senator Walid Jibrin said it behoved the BoT, as the conscience of the party, to ensure the best candidate was chosen to lead the party, insisting that Sheriff was not that person, The Nation reports.
Sen. Jibrin said: “We are going to propose viable solution to this problem after we must have consulted with other organs and relevant stakeholders in the party.”
However, when pressed further by journalists, he refused to elaborate or speak longer.
Also said to be in the meeting were Prof. Jerry Gana, Chief Ojo Maduekwe, Alhaji Shuabu Oyedokun, Air Commodore Dan Suleiman, Senator Stella Omu, Senator Jonah Jang, Mrs. Josephine Anenih, Senator Adolphus Wabara, Abdullahi Kure and Maina Waziri among others.
Despite calls from different sections of the party to resign, Sheriff said he would not do so, and begged his opponents to forgive him and join hands with him to move the party forward.
