Renowned actor and producer, Paul Agbonze Obazele, has officially thrown his hat into the ring for the 2024 Edo State Governorship election. The two-time president of the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) will be vying for the prestigious position under the Labour Party.
Despite the election being more than a year away, aspirants are already positioning themselves to succeed Governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as his second tenure concludes on November 11, 2024.
In an interview with NollyNow, Obazele highlighted his aspiration, driven by a strong desire to address the prevalent issues affecting the common people in Edo. He emphasized the need to transform the current situation where citizens are neglected and lack a voice in decisions affecting their lives.
“I want to seriously impact my people, change the sad narrative of what is happening to the common people in Edo, where they are neglected and treated with disdain; where they do not have a say in what concerns their lives or benefit from the dividends of good governance. I’m getting involved because I want to change the narrative,” Obazele stated.
Should he be elected, Obazele envisions an administration built on transparency, accountability, and good governance, aiming to create an environment conducive to economic growth and social progress. His political agenda focuses on critical areas like infrastructure development, healthcare reform, education improvement, job creation, entertainment, and youth empowerment.
He envisions a state where everyone has equal opportunities to succeed, fostering inclusivity and prioritizing citizens’ well-being.
