Renowned political economist, Prof. Pat Utomi has revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer.
The Labour Party (LP) chieftain disclosed this in a Friday post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
He disclosed that he was diagnosed with cancer in 2022 after a biopsy, which is a medical procedure used to detect cancer by removing a piece of tissue or a sample of cells from the body for testing.
However, the academic-turned-politician did not state which type of cancer.
Utomi, 67, said that many of his age mates are battling the same ailment.
He said that in the heat of the 2023 campaign season, he frequently visited a cancer centre in Ikeja area of Lagos after campaigns.
Utomi said, “When a biopsy showed I was positive last year I began treatment with a cancer Centre with a branch in Ikeja and VI (Victoria Island).
“I sometimes came from election campaigns to the Ikeja Centre near the Airport.
“The doctors would try to smuggle me out from the back. The well known shielded?”
