Party sanctions chairman, secretary for supporting Buhari

The National Rescue Movement has suspended its National Chairman, Senator Saidu Dansadau, and National Secretary, Chinedu Odenyi, for campaigning for re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.

This was contained in a statement released by the party oin Lagos on Sunday. The duo were also alleged of meeting with the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party Alhaji Atiku Ahubakar.

The party noted that Dansadau and Odenyi’s activities are inimical to the party, whose candidate, Usman Alhaji, will also be contesting the February 16 presidential poll.

“The National Rescue Movement has suspended its National Chairman, Senator Saidu Dansadau, and National Secretary, Chinedu Odenyi, for six months for their involvement in anti-party activities,” the statement read.

“A meeting attended by 25 state chairmen, deputy national chairman, deputy national secretary, national youth leader and national welfare officer in Abuja which deliberated on a report by some party chairmen detailing the involvement of the two party leaders in various anti-party activities, decided to ratify the report and apply the stipulated disciplinary measure. The meeting approved that the deputy national chairman and the deputy national secretary take over from the suspended officers.”

“Senator Dansadau was also indicted for openly campaigning for the APC presidential candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari, ignoring protests from NRM leaders.”

It added,  “Senator Dansadau has been holding meetings with the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, without any consultation or respect for the rights of the leaders and the generality of party members adding that the suspended chairman had been conducting affairs of the party as a personal business where his interest is final.”
