Cameroonian actor and comedian, Pancho CY International has warned DJs in the country to stop playing Nigerian music.
He gave the warning in a video that has since gone viral, saying any DJ that disobeys the directive would be embarrassed.
The artiste described Nigerians as “selfish” and self-seeking, stating that his assessment was not guesswork but based on extensive interaction with Nigerians.
Pancho CY alleged that Nigeria was trying to “recolonise our culture”.
“In 2021, No! to Nigerian music in Cameroon,” he said.
In the 5:29-minute video, Pancho CY appreciated Cameroonian bloggers and social media personalities for the cold reception given to fast-rising Nigerian musician, Joeboy, who was in the country recently.
He said it was a sign that the bloggers and social media personalities were getting wiser, and urged them to keep it up.
The artiste explained that the promotion of Nigerian music must stop in Cameroon because Cameroonain artistes were not receiving commensurate recognition in Nigeria.
Pancho CY condemned the presidential reception accorded to popular Nigerian artiste, Wizkid in Cameroon, saying that no contemporary Cameroonian artiste has been so honoured.
The artiste, who described himself as a frequent visitor to Nigeria, warned that any Nigerian musician that steps foot in Cameroon to perform would be booed and disgraced.
Pancho CY also warned Cameroonian music promoters against bringing Nigerian artistes into the country.
