A 51-year-old primary school teacher, Mathew Oluyede in whose care he had four pupils went against the moral laws and trust bestowed upon him by allegedly defiling four pupils. He was on Monday remanded in Ado-Ekiti Prisons, Ekiti State.
Oluyede, whose address is unknown, is facing a charge of defilement at an Ado Ekiti Magistrates’ Court.
The Magistrate, Taiwo Ajibade, who did not take the plea of the accused, said he should be kept in custody until the next date of adjournment.
She said the case file should be duplicated and sent to the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Sergeant Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the accused committed the offence between October 19 and 21 at Ayetoro-Ekiti in Ido Local Government Area of the state.
According to him, Oluyede defiled four minors (names withheld) of between ages five to nine. He urged the court to remand the accused immediately.
The offence contravened Section 218 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti, 2012.
The case has been adjourned till November 17 pending DPP’s advice.
