The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo Command, has warned petrol dealers and tanker drivers to desist from the habit of diverting petroleum products or be prosecuted.
This is contained in a statement issued on Saturday and made available to newsmen in Ibadan by Mr Oluwole Olusegun the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Command.
Olusegun said in the statement that the Oyo NSCDC Commandant, John Adewoye, had vowed to deal with anybody caught in such act and that such person would be treated as an enemy of the state.
The statement quoted Adewoye as saying that the persistent fuel scarcity had continued to bite hard on motorists thereby disrupting business of users of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) across the state.
“My officers in the anti-vandalism unit will conduct stop and search to check waybills of tankers passing through the state.
“This is to ensure that tanker drivers comply with the distribution and dispensation directive of petroleum products at the filling stations,’’ the statement quoted Adewoye as saying.
He called on the public to be part of nation building by volunteering information to the command to checkmate those who were in the habit of diverting fuel meant for the state to other place.
