Oyo State Government has debunked allegation of financial fraud levelled against it by the state Governor-elect, Mr Seyi Makinde.
Makinde’s Director of Media and Strategy, Mr Dotun Oyelade, had accused the state government of moving billions of Naira from government coffers since the governorship election results were announced. He explained that intelligence reports revealed that non-visible contracts were being used to cart away billions from the government coffers with the connivance of some top civil servants.
Seyi Makinde won the governorship poll in Oyo, to defeat Governor Ajimobi-backed All Progressives Congress candidate, Adegoke Adelabu.

However, in his reaction to the claim, the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Toye Arulogun, described the statement by Oyelade as the latest in a series of propaganda meant to discredit the Ajimobi administration.
“It is a hoax intended to heat up the polity and whip up sentiments. Governor Abiola Ajimobi, who will be in the saddle of the state till the expiration of his tenure on May 29, has been running the affairs of the state including fiscal transactions in the last eight years in a transparent manner and in accordance with good governance and best practices,” Arulogun was quoted as saying.
“The Oyo State Government will continue to operate in line with its constitutional and statutory responsibilities. At the appropriate time, the necessary machinery will be instituted for the outgoing and incoming administrations to meet and establish the desirable transition obligations.”
