The tragic death of Corey Comperatore, who was killed while shielding his family during an assassination attempt at a Trump rally in Butler, has inspired an outpouring of support and love from his community. Over $500,000 has been raised for Comperatore’s family, reflecting the profound impact he had on those who knew him.

Comperatore, a dedicated firefighter and active church member, was attending the rally with his wife and daughter when the shooting occurred. Known for his selflessness and devotion to his family, he died protecting his loved ones, an act that has been described as heroic by those who witnessed it.

“Rest in Peace Corey Comperatore, a true hero who died last night protecting his family,” one friend posted online, capturing the sentiment shared by many who admired his courage and commitment.

The tragic incident has left his daughter, Allyson, and her family grappling with an unimaginable loss. In a heartfelt message shared with friends and supporters, Allyson recounted the events of that fateful night and paid tribute to her father’s character and bravery.

“Yesterday time stopped. And when it started again my family and I started living a real-life nightmare. What was supposed to be an exciting day that we had all looked forward to (ESPECIALLY my dad), turned into the most traumatizing experience someone could imagine,” Allyson wrote.

She described her father as the best dad a girl could ask for, a man who always answered when called and did whatever was needed, even if he didn’t know how initially. His ability to make friends with anyone and his love for Jesus and his church was central to who he was.

Allyson’s message also highlighted the heroic actions of her father during the shooting. “He was the best dad a girl could ever ask for. My sister and I never needed anything. You call, he would answer, and he would do whatever it is you needed, and if he didn’t know how he would figure out how. He could talk and make friends with anyone, which he was doing all day yesterday and loved every minute of it. He was a man of God, loved Jesus fiercely, and also looked after our church and our members as family.”

“The media will not tell you that he died a real-life superhero. They are not going to tell you how quickly he threw my mom and I to the ground. They are not going to tell you that he shielded my body from the bullet that came at us.”

She went on to express the depth of her loss and the profound impact her father had on her life. “He loved his family. He truly loved us enough to take a real bullet for us. And I want nothing more than to cry on him and tell him thank you. I want nothing more than to wake up and for this to not be a reality for me and my family. We lost a selfless, loving, husband, father, brother, uncle, son, and friend. And I will never stop thinking about him and mourning over him until the day that I die too.”

The community has rallied around Comperatore’s family, with his gym setting up a donation spot and cards for people to sign. “Saturday night, our friend and family, Allyson, lost her father due to a senseless, tragic act at the Trump Rally in Butler. Allyson has been an athlete with us since the beginning. She’s a huge part of our community. If you’re able to support her and her family during this time, we will have a spot for donations at the gym. Additionally, please take the time to sign the cards at the desk,” read a message from the gym.

Comperatore’s legacy as a loving father, dedicated firefighter, and man of faith will undoubtedly continue to inspire those who knew him. The substantial funds raised for his family are a testament to the deep respect and admiration the community holds for him, ensuring that his sacrifice will never be forgotten.
