Over a hundred and twenty (120) Nigerian squash players have shown interest in competing in the inaugural edition of the John Hett Sports Foundation (JHSF) tournament.
The Herald understands that as of the entry deadline on October 1st, dozens of the country’s male and female athletes have indicated their interest in participating in the competition.
The JHSF squash tournament will be held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, from October 25 to October 28, 2023.
The overall winner accrues 30 ranking points, runner-up 19.5, and semifinalists 12 points.
Additionally, the JHSF’s squash tournament is the highest cash prize Professional Squash Association (PSA) closed satellite tournament in Nigeria. The champion goes home with N400,000 (about 550 US dollars) and athletes who reach the round of 16 are entitled to a share of the prize pool.
