The senator representing Kaduna central senatorial district in the National Assembly, Sen. Shehu Sani, has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congresses that took place on Saturday across the nation showed the weaknesses within the party.
The exercise, which was meant to elect new executives of the party at ward levels, was said to have been held amidst protests and violence across the country.
Some party members lost their lives and reports of rigging and imposition of candidates during the congresses also circulated.
The contentious exercise was said to be the subject of a meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari, Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, and Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), Abdulaziz Yari, on Sunday.
Taking to his Twitter handle on Wednesday morning, Sani said, “The Ward congresses was meant to show internal democracy, it ended up revealing internal tyranny and internal chaos, presided over by people with the faces of Lincoln but the Heart of Mussolini. Their tongue is change, their heart is unchanged.”
