Nigerian billionaire, Femi Otedola has promised to foot the medical bills of ex-Green Eagles captain and Super Eagles head coach, Christian Chukwu.
Chukwu, who captained the Green Eagles (now Super Eagles) to win the 1980 African Nations Cup, is reportedly down with prostate cancer that has affected his legs.
The Herald reported Monday that a $50,000 appeal had been made to cover the cost of treatment in the United States.
The fund is reportedly for the prostate operation as surgery has already been performed on the legs with N1.5 million donated by the Enugu State Government.
A GoFundMe account has also been created for the Enugu Rangers legend nicknamed ‘The Chairman’, and it has raised $4305 of the $50,000 needed for further treatment.
However, TheCable quoted Otedola as saying that he would cover the entire cost of the operation as a “token of support to a great Nigerian who served his country to the best of his ability”.
The oil magnate previously settled the medical bills of popular Tinsel actor, Victor Olaotan, who was at risk of double amputation following a ghastly car auto crash in 2016.
