Billionaire Femi Otedola will be invited as a witness in the corruption trial of former chairman, House of Representatives ad-hoc Committee on Fuel Subsidy, Farouk Lawan by the prosecution team.
It was gathered that Otedola was listed as a prosecution witness in some documents tendered before the court.
Lawan was arraigned alongside the former Secretary of the committee, Boniface Emenalo on a seven-count charge before Justice Mudashiru Oniyangi of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Maitama, Abuja, on February 2, 2013.
The duo were accused of receiving the $620, 000 as bribe from Otedola, ostensibly to exclude his companies – Zenon Petroleum and Gas and Synopsis Enterprises Limited – from the list of companies found to have allegedly defrauded the Federal Government during the fuel subsidy regime.
His trial was stalled at an Abuja High Court in Lugbe on February 9.
At the resumed trial, prosecuting counsel, Chief Adegboyega Awomolo (S.A.N) told the court that officials of the National Assembly refused to accept payment for a certified true copy of a document obtained from them.
Judge over the case, Angela Otaluka adjourned the matter to Monday and Tuesday, March 7 and 8 for commencement of trial.
