2 Min Read

The governorship ambition of Engr Fatai Akinbade of the Labour Party in Osun State, has received the needed boost following the defection of about 1000  members of Accord Party in Isokan Local Government area of the state, to the party(LP).

In a release by his Director of Media, Mr Kayode Oladeji, the decampees led by Mr Adeola Adeniyi, cut across the eleven wards in the local government.
While receiving the new members on Monday amidst fanfare, Akinbade and the state chairman of the party, Barrister Timothy Olatunji, noted that they  had taken the right step that would go a long way in salvaging the state from the misrule of Rauf Aregbesola’s administration.

Speaking further, the governorship candidate who was the former Secretary to the State Government, admonished other contenders and stakeholders in the forthcoming election slated for August 9, this year, not to create tension through unguarded utterances capable of creating avoidable conflicts.

To this end, he maintained that campaigns should be issues based imbued with  new ideas that could meet the needs of the state and its people.
“Through our actions or otherwise,we should not create avoidable fears and tension in the minds of our people. Politics should not be played on do or die basis. Our problem is: we have always refused to be students of History”
While speaking through their leader, Adeniyi, the enthusiastic defectors who sang and danced, said they chose Labour Party because they believe in the candidature of Akinbade as the only one that could bail the state out of its present situation.
Meanwhile they have promised to work assiduosly for the success of the party in. the coming election not only in their council area, but across the state.
