Osinbajo Under Pressure To Sack CCB Chairman, Nine Others

2 Min Read

The acting president of the country, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has reportedly been put under pressure to act on a petition sent to him by a group of lawyers under the aegis of Kingdom Human Rights Foundation International.

The group of lawyers in the petition addressed to the Acting President demanded the sack of the Chairman of Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, Mr. Sam Saba, along with nine other members of the bureau’s board.

The petition dated May 8, 2017 demanded the Acting President of the federation to sack the CCB Chairman and the board members as their continuous stay in office is illegal.

The petition reminded the Acting President of the judgement delivered by Justice Murtala Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on April 31 which held that the tenure of office of the CCB Chairman and the board members expired since 2015.

The group in the petition titled “Urgent need to implement the decision of the court,” further demanded the CCB Chairman and affected officials to return “all salaries, allowances and emoluments they illegally collected between April 2015 and June 2016 and from June 2016 till the pendency of the suit” to the federation account.

The group in the petition signed by the Executive Director of the body, Mr. Okere Nnamdi, further added: “It is our hope that as a professor of law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, your excellency would digest the judgment and act in accordance with the rule of law.”
