Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has described the late Mama Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo as “an icon” and “a shining light”.
Professor Osinbajo took to his official Twitter handle @ProfOsinbajo late Sunday evening to express his feelings towards the demise of the matriarch of the Awolowo family.
According to him “Mama HID Awolowo was an icon mixing devotion, care and love for family & friends with patriotism to nation. She will be sorely missed.
“Mama’s role in history is cemented by memories of sacrifice, service and love. To us, a shining light that this departure doesn’t dim.
“We looked forward to Mama’s 100th but bless God for 99 fruitful years. You live on in our hearts.”
This comes as President Muhammadu Buhari offered to give the late Mama Awolowo a befitting state burial if the family will permit.
