Osimhen Removes Napoli Content On Instagram, Threatens Legal Actions Amidst TikTok Controversy

Victor Osimhen

Nigerian football star Victor Osimhen is contemplating legal action against his club, Napoli.

The Herald understands that this move comes after Napoli posted a now-deleted video on their official TikTok account, trolling Osimhen for missing a penalty in their last game against Bologna.

Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, issued a formal statement expressing his deep concern about the incident. Calenda emphasized that the video, which mocked Victor Osimhen, was both inappropriate and unacceptable.

Calenda stated, “What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable. A video mocking Victor was first made public and then, but now belatedly, deleted.

“A serious fact that causes very serious damage to the player and adds to the treatment that the boy is suffering in the last period between media trials and fake news,” Calenda added.

He continued, “We reserve the right to take legal action and any useful initiative to protect Victor.”

Recall that Osimhen had made a public apology to his teammates and manager Rudi Garcia for an emotional outburst when he was substituted during the game against Bologna.

Osimhen had missed a penalty in that game, which Napoli subsequently used as material for their controversial TikTok post.

In response to the mocking he has received, Osimhen has removed all Napoli-related content from his Instagram account.

Currently, only posts related to his international activities with the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, and other personal details remain on his profile.

The situation has raised questions about the relationship between the club and the player, after Osimhen helped the team win their first Scudetto title in 30 years.
