Oshiomole’s Former Aide Abandon’s APC for PDP with Many Followers

The saying it is better to be late than never could not be better expressed as a former aide of the of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Edo state Governor, Adams Oshiomole has decamped from the party to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo state, dragging along many party faithfuls.

Perhaps having seen the hand writing on the wall through the inconclusive election that just held in Osun where it appears the opposition PDP has fought the ruling APC to a standstill, Mr. Kassim Afegbua, the former Special Adviser on Media to comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has defected with thousands of his supporters to the PDP.

The former aide who was also a one-time Commissioner for Information in Edo, was received by the Edo state PDP chairman Chief Dan Orbih, at Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area of the state on Sunday.

Mr. Afegbua said he took the “bold step” in rejoining his former party, because of the level of infrastructural deficit in his community.

According to him, although he served under the APC- led administration in the state for 8 years, he has been left dissatisfied, because of the state of roads and lack of development in Okpella community.

Afegbua also lamented the absence of electricity in his community while he complained of high inflation and rising costs of commodities across the local markets.

He said further that APC members were defecting to the PDP on account of poor roads and neglect of the community by the APC led state government.

He observed that the PDP was sympathetic with flood victims in the locality and blamed the state government for its supposed “slow response” to the problem.

Afebgua said the PDP was aware of donation of relief materials by some Federal Government agencies and appealed against diversion of the items.

The spokesperson of other APC defectors, Chief Ekpen Abu, also pledged their loyalty to theor new party, reiterating their readiness to work with the party to win the next election in the area and the state in general.
