Reports coming from the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC as well as the Presidency indicate that some respite may yet come the way of embattled national party chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.
According to reports by ThisDay, President Buhari intends to meet with Governors within the party today to discuss the fate of the national chairman of the party in Abuja.
Adams Oshiomhole has been battling his suspension as national chairman of the APC by an Abuja High Court as the leadership crisis within the party deepened.
According to reports from several quarters, governors on the platform of the party want Oshiomhole out of office due to his leadership style which many party members are not satisfied with.
National leader of the party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu however indicated his support of the embattled leader saying those calling for his removal were selfish.
According to Tinubu, those calling for the removal of the embattled chairman see him as a stumbling block to their political ambitions in 2023.
Sources within the Presidency also revealed that President Buhari has finally decided to intervene in the leadership crisis of the party.
ThisDay further reported that the President will not attend the National Executive Committee meeting as expected but will meet with APC governors instead.
Oshiomhole was suspended by an order of the Federal High Court which recognised his suspension from his party ward in Edo State.
Oshiomhole’s running battle with Governor Obaseki of Edo State was what led to his being suspended by his ward in the first place.
Although he got another ruling from a Federal High Court in Kano restraining the APC from carrying out the order of the Federal High Court, Abuja, Oshiomhole appealed his suspension by the court and applied for a stay of execution.
His application for stay of execution is expected to be heard at the Court of Appeal in Abuja on Monday.
