The national chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has stated that the APC will not be intimidated or distracted.
The party leader was speaking to members of the press at the end of a meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and APC Senators at the Presidential Villa
Oshiomhole explained that meeting with the President was to show solidarity and show that they were behind Buhari a hundred percent.
He said: “The senators have come in large number to prove that the APC remains the party with the largest number of senators as well as members in the House of Representatives. Also to prove that we still have what it takes to continue to provide good governance for Nigeria.
“We have agreed that going forward, the APC cannot be intimidated, the government will not be intimidated or distracted. We remain focused and committed to addressing the critical challenges that confront our country, namely security, economy and fight against corruption.
“On all three, the President is consistent and determined and the senators have come to reassure him of their full backing on these three core commitments which we have made to the Nigerian people and for me as party Chairman, we are very excited,” he said.
Recall that it was reported that Buhari was allegedly furious at comments made by Oshiomhole regarding his office especially in relation to his attitude towards indiscipline.
The former Governor of Edo state had spoken out against the minister of Labour, Chris Ngige stating that he would not condone disrespect for his office and that if the President was lenient on this, he would not.
These comments according to reports painted a picture of the President as incompetent, a view that the President was said to have taken offence to.
Oshiomhole also claimed that those who defected from the party were victims of misinformation and would soon be back.
