2 Min Read

Super Eagles forward, Osaze Odemwingie, is determined to return to full fitness with Stoke and then convince Mark Hughes he deserves a new deal.

The 33-year-old forward was impressing in the Potters first-team before damaging an anterior cruciate ligament during a 1-0 win at Manchester City back in August last year.

Odemwingie has been on the sidelines for five months but his rehabilitation is going well and he hopes to make his return to first-team action before the end of the season.

The Nigerian international says he is loving life at the Britannia Stadium and he is keen to earn an extended deal once he is back fit an firing on all cylinders.

“I have not had discussions about extending my contract yet but there is no rush for that,” Odemwingie revealed.

“At the moment we are in the transfer window and there are players who are key to the team right now who have more pressing situations.

“I saw Peter Crouch saying he would like to stay not just for one year with Stoke, but maybe more and I am the same. It’s a really good place to be, a great club.

“You have to be realistic but if I can get back training and show the manager I can still put the ball in the net then everything else will take care of itself.”
