Osama bin Laden’s son confirmed dead by the US President

2 Min Read

US President, Donald Trump, has confirmed that Osama Bin Laden’s Son, Hamza bin Ladin is dead. According to him, Hamza bin Laden was “killed in a United States counterterrorism operation in the Afghanistan/Pakistan region.”

President Donald Trump said;

“The loss of Hamza bin Laden not only deprives al-Qa’ida of important leadership skills and the symbolic connection to his father, but undermines important operational activities of the group,” the President said in the statement.

Hamza bin Laden was said to be considered the likely successor to the al-Qaeda terrorist network but that might not be excluded in the network’s future existence. Items collected at the location where Osama bin Laden was killed showed indications that Osama may have been grooming his last son for the leadership of the network.

President Donald Trump had said that “Hamza was responsible for planning and dealing with various terrorist groups”.

Also there have been speculations that Hamza might have been killed months before the official statement released by the White House.

US officials told CNN on Saturday that the administration wanted to make sure it explored all angles and gathered all of the intelligence it could before making the announcement.

However,  according to CNN terrorism analyst, Paul Cruickshank,

“If Hamza bin Laden has indeed been dead for months, you would expect al Qaeda to have released some form of eulogy before today. The fact they haven’t is highly unusual, given his status in the group.”
