The convoy of Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State was on Friday morning involved in a road accident that left seven persons, including two members of the State House of Assembly, injured.
It was learnt that the incident occurred at 10:50 am.
The accident reportedly occurred when the governor and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were traveling to Utokon community of Ado Local Government Area in continuation of the party’s governorship campaign rally.
A driver of a branded bus fully loaded with PDP supporters was said to have lost control and rammed into three vehicles – a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), a security vehicle, and another bus in the convoy.
The incident caused injury to seven persons in the affected vehicles, including the lawmaker representing Guma and Kwande West constituencies in the state assembly.
An ambulance in the convoy conveyed the injured persons to hospital for medical attention, it was gathered.
