Organisers of the Mr. Ugly Zimbabwe competition have insisted that the pageant will hold despite initial difficulties in securing funds and sponsors to float the event.
The organisers of the event who have set November 25 as the D-Day said this year’s competition boasts of a lot of sponsors as the preliminary stages of the competition has been flagged off.
The founder of the pageant, David Machowa told local newspaper News Day, “Mr Ugly pageant is on. The sponsors are there. We have active sponsors, who have come on board … Harare is big and has a lot of people, hence we are having contests in a number of suburbs.”
Recall that the first Mr. Ugly competition winner, Mison Sere was crowned amidst wild uproar in 2015 as other participants claimed he was too handsome to have emerged the winner of the competition.
The 2015 winner won a $500 prize and the runner up was awarded $100 for participation.
