An appointee of President Muhammadu Buhari, Osita Okechukwu, has mocked former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his alleged inability to visit the United States of America.
He equally challenged Atiku to come clean to Nigerians on his US immigration status.
Okechukwu, who is the Director – General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), made this known while speaking to reporters in Enugu on Sunday in reaction to Atiku’s comments at the PDP Northeast Mega Rally in Yola, Adamawa state.
Atiku said, “Under APC government Afghanistan is better off in terms of protecting human lives, we are now the Afghanistan of Africa , it is disheartening that after three years of mindless killings and disappearances of our school children the massacre increased daily.
“Yet, the President will say his security chiefs are cracking their brains , before they come out with a solution there will be nobody alive , so who will they protect after discovering a solution to the killings.”

He added, “Nigeria has never been divided like today under the leadership of APC. We are more divided along north and south, Christians and Muslims, along farmers and grazers. The selective justice and abuse of office take front seat under Buhari’s administration.
“Human lives have no value in our country today , if you sleep and woke up or you are traveling and you get to your destination thank your God, because He protects you against the mindless killings, which have become the norm under this administration.
“My government will give equal opportunities to north and south in terms of appointments, allocation of people oriented projects , there will be no division among Christians and Muslims in terms of appointments, because Nigeria belongs to Nigerians and not religion . Religion is by choice , but being a Nigerian is God’s choice, so it is unfair to allocate all sensitive positions like security offices to only one religion . My government will be for all Nigerians and not for a section of the country.”
But reacting to Atiku’s presidential declaration at the rally, Okechukwu said that Atiku’s claims to totally eradicate insecurity if elected president were untrue, saying the task would be made even more impossible by his alleged inability to visit the US.
He also wondered if Atiku would be able to go visiting the US if elected president, unlike President Muhammadu Buhari who was hosted in the White House shortly after his coming to office in 2015.
Okechukwu noted that this alone constituted a good reason why Buhari, instead of Atiku, should be elected by Nigerians in 2019.
Speaking further, Okechukwu challenged Abubakar to authorise the United States Border Authority to make public his immigration status.
He said, “Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari, few weeks after the inauguration, was honoured with a red carpet reception at the White House.
“A presidential contest is like a beauty contest , and Buhari remains the best among those parading themselves to be President in 2019.”
Similarly, Okechukwu challenged Atiku to substantiate his claim that more Nigerians had been killed during Buhari’s administration than the number of people that died in war-torn Afghanistan.
He said Atiku was purveying falsehood instead of joining the president and other Nigerians to fight insecurity across the nation.
