A National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described the political opposition to the party in Oyo state as “finished”.
This was after some political bigwigs from the main opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) teamed up with the ruling party on Saturday, a day that the State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi celebrated his 68th birthday.
The new comers include former Governor of the state, Adebayo Alao- Akala; former Deputy Governor, Taofeek Arapaja; a former PDP governorship candidate, Teslim Folami; a former Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Ayodele Adigun; a former Chairman, Oluyole Local Government Area, Kehinde Olaosebikan; and the only PDP member in the House of Representatives from the state, Dokun Odebunmi.
At the event attended by the Governors of Ondo and Osun states, Rotimi Akeredolu and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and South – West National Vice Chairman of the APC, Pius Akinyelure, Tinubu also said the party was a stainless kitchen that could accommodate more cooks.
The former Lagos State Governor said, “We have a stainless kitchen and we can accommodate as many cooks as possible . We love those bigwigs and we can accommodate them all. You can see that the opposition has finished in Oyo State. Today is important for us because it is the birthday of Governor Abiola Ajimobi – and things that have never happened in the history of Oyo State have started happening.
“I thank God that my friend, Alao- Akala, and the others for seeing the light. All of you who joined the party will also join in building it. The APC house is great for all of us. We are proud of you for joining us. APC is the only progressive party in Nigeria and Africa.”
