OPay rider allegedly defraud customer with “GPS Spoofing”

2 Min Read

A user on nairaland.com took to the forum to explain the ordeal of an OPay customer who apparently was a victim of “GPS Spoofing”. Whether the account holder who goes by the username ‘GAZZUZZ’ is the victim or not is not clear but according to screenshots of the trip shared, the OPay account is owned by one AZEZZ TEMITAYO.

GAZZUZZ in his account said the incidence happened on Thursday 3rd October 2019 between  Ojodu Berger close to Bovas petrol station on Ogunnusi road to College Road, Ifako Ijaye.

Being a long term customer of the platform the victim made a rough estimate of what the trip should cost. In his mind he deduced ₦230 of course he’d plied that root often enough to be able to make an educated guess of the fare.

But something about the body language of the rider piqued his curiosity and he decided to check the trip summary after the rider left. In his own words:

“I was curious and decided to take a look at the trip after the rider left, when I looked I was shocked ! A trip of 4.6km was billed at ₦967!!”

“I checked the review of the map and noticed gps spoofing in local terms “sakamje”
