One person is suspected dead and 28 have been confirmed injured after a female suicide bomber blew herself up in a cafe in Cameroon’s far north region Bia near Nigeria on Sunday
Eye Witnesses said the woman detonated her explosives after entering a cafe at around 7:00 am. The injured were rushed to a hospital in the neighborhood.
According to the International Crisis Group. Cameroon began its fight against Boko Haram in 2014, the Boko Haram since then are accountable for 2,000+ civilian lives and military men and women and thousands of kidnapped.
Since the group’s emergence 8 years ago, it has attacked Nigeria, Cameroon, Niger and Chad and led to the displacement of over 2.6M and been responsible for over 20,000 deaths.
The Bia area has seen frequent attacks by the Boko Haram jihadist group in recent years.
Those hurt in the blast were taken to a nearby hospital, witnesses said.
