Supporters of the detained Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu have taken to the streets of Onitsha in their thousands to protest his continued detention by the Department of State Security.
The protesters, who are members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), reportedly blocked the entrance and exit of the Niger Bridge linking Onitsha in Anambra State to Asaba in Delta State.
One of the protesters was allegedly shot dead by soldiers trying to prevent them from extending their protests to Asaba, using the bridge.
According to reports just filtering in, the protest is still in earnest.
