The Senior Special Assistant to President, Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu has in an interview said one of the Chibok girls refused to be rescued from her captors because she had already found a husband.
Garba Shehu’s disclosure comes after the negotiator for the release of the 82 girls, Zannah Mustapha claimed that some of the abducted school girls refused to be freed.
According to the President’s aide, the rescued girls would have been 83 but for the last girl who turned down the offer of freedom because she was married to one of the Islamist-Jihadist Sect members.
Garba Shehu in the interview with Channels TV today said: “83 were negotiated to come back but one said I have found a husband, I am happy where I am. So they left her and brought back the 82. At first, when the negotiation started people were ridiculing us. But we are here now.”
