One chance operative arrested for robbing and raping his passengers

The arrest of  Abiodun Makinde, a suspected one chance operative, was made in Ogun state after being identified by a lady.

The arrest on Makinde which was made on the ground of terrorizing people who commute along Sango/ Owode Idiroko road, was as a result of a report being made by some of his victims, Gloria Edoh and Saidat Akinola. They reported how they were robbed in a taxi they had boarded from Owode to Sango, according to the victim, on getting to Olokopupo area of Atan Ota, two men they had met in the car suddenly pulled knives with which they forced them to forfeit their belongings.

According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said although a sum of N37, 000 was snatched from one of the victims, N480, 000 was forcibly collected from the other victim as well as their phones before the victims were pushed out of the vehicle, thereby inflicting severe injuries on the victims. The victims then recounted how they found their way to a hospital close by, but on their way out of the hospital, they identified Abiodun as one of their attackers, which they brought to the attention of people around them by shouting.

 

Their shouting attracted the DPO Atan-Ota, SP Abiodun Salau who was on duty with other officers on the scene, where the suspect was placed under arrest. On getting to the police station, a woman (name withheld) who had previously complained of a similar incident also identified the suspect as one of her attackers who had robbed and rapped her on the 12th of September and made away with her pants.

The suspect confessed to the two different incidents brought forward by the victims. CP Bashir Makama, has ordered the transfer of the suspect to Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for discreet investigation.
