Ondo State Government is set to build two additional Mother-and-Child hospitals in its Southern and Northern Senatorial District of the state.
In a statement, Kayode Akinmade, the state Commissioner for Information said the two new additional hospitals will bring the total number to four.
According to the Commissioner, the government is determined to consolidate on the success so far recorded by the government’s Safe Motherhood programme.
He revealed that the World Health Organisation (WHO) chose Mother-and-Child Hospitals in Ondo as research centres because of their accomplishments on health initiatives.
He added that the government will do everything possible to ensure that pregnancy no longer translate to death sentence in the state.
Safe Motherhood Programme necessitated the building of the Mother-and-Child Hospitals in 2009 for the treatment of pregnant women and children below the age of 5 – free of charge.
