ONDO POLLS: APC Begs Electorates To Maintain Peace

2 Min Read
APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has appealed to residents of the state to maintain peace and order following the recognition of Mr Jimoh Ibrahim as the Governorship candidate of the PDP by INEC.

The party, in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Mr Abayomi Adesanya, decried the wanton destruction of government properties in Akure on Friday by some supporters of PDP over the INEC’s decision.

According to reports, some supporters of Mr Eyitayo Jegede, a factional Governorship candidate of the PDP, had on Friday, protested the recognition of Ibrahim as the party’s candidate in the Nov. 26 election following a court order.

Justice Okon Abang of a Federal High Court in Abuja had on October 14, ordered INEC to accept Ibrahim as the governorship candidate of PDP.

The ruling displaced Jegede, who was earlier recognised by INEC as the governorship candidate and replaced him with Ibrahim.

‎“We passionately appeal to residents and supporters of PDP to maintain peace and order in the interest of Ondo State.

“Election should not be a do-or-die syndrome,’’ Adesanya said.

He condemned the wanton destruction of public properties and the prevention of law-abiding residents from engaging in their lawful businesses by the protesters.

Adesanya, therefore, advised the two factions in Ondo PDP, Ibrahim and Jegede, to tread with caution; obey the rule of law; and seek legal redress in court if aggrieved on any issue.
