The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, has warned Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu against any attempt to use the newly-inaugurated Amotekun Corps to rig the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
Secondus claimed that the governor rushed to inaugurate the security outfit in a bid to use its personnel to intimidate and harass opponents.
This is just as the party boss warned the Federal Government against deploying the military on security duties during the Edo and Ondo guber elections.
He said it behooves President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that the election field is made level for all to enable the good people of Ondo state make their choice without hindrance of any kind.

This, he said, government can do by ensuring “that they respect the Constitution and the Electoral Act as well as the ruling of Supreme Court of Nigeria that say that security operatives particularly the military should not meddle on election matters outside providing adequate and equal security to all the parties within the requirements of the law.”
Secondus, who addressed party leaders at the PDP National Secretariat, Abuja, stated that the party “expects that in both Edo and Ondo states elections, the military should be kept out of it completely and Police and other security agencies who are supposed to be at election venues should be made to operate within the dictates of the law.
