As the Governorship elections for Ondo State draw near, the political tension in the state was raised a notch higher with the resignation of a Local Government Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ese- Odo local government area of Ondo State, Mr. Samuel Olorunwa from the party.
Mr. Olorunwa is the latest in a series of party members that have abandoned the ruling party as Governor Rotimi Akeredolu intensifies his bid for second term on the platform of the APC.
The embattled deputy Governor of the state, Mr. Agboola Ajayi also from Ese-Odo, decamped from the ruling party to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) citing irreconcilable differences with Governor Akeredolu.

Mr. Olorunwa tendered his resignation letter at the party secretariat in Ese-Odo on Friday saying he resigned both as Local Government Chairman as well as a member of the APC. He declined to mention if he was decamping to another political party.
Political analysts in the state have said the resignation is connected to the defection of the Deputy Governor whose rift with Akeredolu has spread to the State House of Assembly.
