2 Min Read

Nigerian singer Omah Lay has confirmed that he was arrested by police in Uganda after his concert in the capital city, Kampala.

The Ugandan Police had explained that singers, ‘Omah Lay’ and ‘Tems’ were arrested for breaking Corona Virus regulations during an unsanctioned concert in the capital city, Kampala.

This much was revealed in a statement on Sunday via the official Facebook handle of the Police Force.

The concert took place on Saturday after the singer and organizers was warned from performing at the concert.

The Public Relations Officer of the Kampala Metropolitan Police, Patrick Onyango, further revealed that three Ugandan police officers were also arrested for enabling event planners host the show.

“Nine people have been arrested in connection with the unauthorized concert held last night in Ddungu Resort, Munyononyo, Kampala,” the statement read.

Giving an update on his arrest, Omah Lay took to Twitter to assure his fans that things would be sorted out soon.

He wrote: “Yes I’m with the Ugandan police… something about the show from last night. Everything would be fine…”

It will be recalled that the Ministry of Health had issued guidelines which prohibited large gatherings like concerts and music events.

The move was aimed to check the spread of the virus in the country.
