Peeved by the activities of online fraudsters on its platform, foremost online market place, OLX, has introduced new security features to stop them in their tracks.
According to the company, users can now use the ‘report’ and ‘block’ buttons to report any suspicious listings or accounts and block any user pestering them with spam respectively.
OLX is being used in 100 countries and is available in 50 languages across the globe.
The company is also restructuring its verification process to include a two-step process of SMS and email, aimed at verifying the identify of sellers on its platform
Also, photos used on the site are also to be watermarked, which is to ensure that they are not re-used to advertise a similar, but non-existent, product by fraudulent sellers.
In-app chat will also be introduced to allow potential buyers interact, first-hand, with potential sellers to determine the veracity of their claims.
The new features have been introduced to ensure that the site is kept safe and friendly to users.
