The Media Officer of the Super Eagles, Toyin Ibitoye said on Friday that there was still a chance that Head Coach Sunday Oliseh could turn up for the Home-based Eagles’ CHAN qualifier game against the Stallions of Burkina Faso on Saturday.
Ibitoye on Thursday had confirmed that Oliseh was ruled out of the game scheduled for the Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium in Port Harcourt, owing to ill-health.
The veteran sport journalist who was responding to questions in a telephone chat with Promise Efoghe of TVC, Lagos said that the team was in high spirits and well-prepared to do the nation proud.
He said that although the players would have preferred to have the Head Coach around, the teams assistant coaches – Aloy Agu, Salisu Yusuf, Jean-Francoise Losciuto, were doing a good job of preparing the players.
Furthermore, he said that Nigerians should not rule out the possibility of seeing Oliseh on the sidelines as he could, because of his “unparalleled sense of duty”, turn out for the match despite his health.
Oliseh is in Belgium being treated for an undisclosed ailment and is expected back in Nigeria on Sunday.
