High-flying Manchester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho has been invited to the Super Eagles camp in preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup double-header qualifiers against Swaziland.
The 19-year-old, who was described as having ‘an old head on young shoulders’ in his club’s 5-1 thrashing of Crystal Palace, was initially omitted from coach Sunday Oliseh’s 23-man squad for the November 13th and 17th clashes.
After a scintillating performance that saw him score a goal and assist 2 others in the Capital One Cup against Palace, Iheanacho had finally done enough to impress Oliseh, who promptly invited him.
While taking to Twitter to announce the decision, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) said: “Coach @SundayOOliseh invites @MCFC striker Kelechi Iheanacho (@67Kelechi) for Swaziland! List now 24.”
A subsequent tweet by the NFF equally quoted Oliseh as saying that, “I initially called up 23 but after seeing repeat of Manchester City versus Crystal Palace Capital One Cup, I’m adding Iheanacho to the lis
