Olisa Metuh Attends Court On Stretcher, Brought In Ambulance

2 Min Read

The former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh today attended the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court on a stretcher.

Metuh, who was brought to the court in an ambulance belonging to the National Hospital, Abuja, was surrounded by medical personnel, family and associates.

According to his lawyer, Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), the defendant came to court on a stretcher in compliance with a January 25 order by Justice Okon Abang that he should be produced in court at the next sitting or risk having his bail revoked.

Justice Abang had rejected a copy of the medical report presented by his counsel in court before issuing the order.

Metuh was brought to the court covered in a white cloth with only his head visible. He also had neck braces on.

The former PDP spokesman is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on charges of money laundering and corruption along with his company Destra Nigeria Limited.

Ikpeazu pleaded with presiding judge, Justice John Tsoho to grant a month adjournment for the defendant to regain fitness to be able to stand trial.

Prosecuting counsel, Sylvanus Tahir did not oppose the application and the presiding judge adjourned the case till March 14 for continuation of trial.

The judge said, “I have seen the condition that the first defendant is. Seeing the condition, I am inclined to adjourn this matter to allow the first defendant attend his trial.”
