The Executive Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has raised alarm over the paltry sum being paid to the state as monthly allocation by the Federal Government.
The governor noted that the situation was brought about by the deduction of the N26 billion bailout fund given to the state government to offset some pending bills and meet its obligations, especially to workers, who were agitating for the payment of their salaries and other entitlements.
He said taking the bailout fund had plunged the state into more economic woes, making the allocation to the state in the month of December the lowest in the South East geo-political zone.
Okorocha, who just returned from a 10-day working vacation to Asia, said: “The N26 billion bailout we took from the Federal Government, which we used to pay same agitating workers, has put Imo in trouble as more money is being deducted from our allocation.”
