Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo on Monday commended the efforts of the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Chris Ezike, at ”subduing” kidnappers in the area.
Okorocha made the commendation while unveiling Special Police Squad and 20 operational vehicles to boost security in the area.
He said in the past, kidnapping was the order of the day in the state, but that the situation had been reduced to the barest minimum.
The governor called for new innovations in the police force to boost the image of the organisation.
The Commissioner of Police said Okorocha had supported the police in fighting crime in the state.
“We are doing well here but I want to specially thank the governor for his magnanimity in assisting us in our financial challenges,” he said.
Ezike called for greater partnership with different communities in the state, adding that the whistle-blowing policy recently adopted by the command had yielded good results.(NAN)
