Bolton Wanderers legend Austin Jay Jay Okocha has gone back to the club where he achieved cult status and has now been appointed as a member of the backroom staff as his former club prepares for the 2018/2019 season.
The former midfielder who was recently named as the player with the most dribbles in a World Cup match was appointed following an announcement via the Twitter handle of UK based football agent, John Harriot on Monday.
“The African Prince Jay-Jay Okocha is set to join the Bolton Wanderers backroom staff. Will be a great
influence on the young players at the club #BWFC” tweeted Harriot.
Okocha is remembered fondly by Bolton fans after plying his trade there for 9 years in the 2000s and eventually became captain and also led the club to its first Cup final in nine years, where they finished runners-up in the 2004 Football League Cup to Middlesbrough FC in the English Premier League.
With his appointment, Okocha experience’s will be a plus to the young players who will be looking up to him to shape their career.
Okocha’s new job with Bolton will be the first by the former midfielder’s with a club in England and also one that’s chasing Premier League status.
He was voted Bolton’s best-ever player by fans earlier this year in a poll conducted by the club
