A son of slain trado-medical expert, Alhaji Fatai Yusuf aka Oko Oloyun, has claimed that his father uncovered fraud in his Lagos office before his death.
According to the son, some of his father’s staff burnt important documents to conceal the fraud.
He added that his father was informed of the fire incident in his office hours before he was shot dead along Eruwa-Igbo-Ora Road in Ibarapa Central LGA of Oyo State on Thursday.
Called Fijk House, Oko Oloyun’s sprawling office is located at Idowu Egba, along the LASU-Isheri Road in Egbe-Idimu local council development area.
The son, who preferred anonymity for security reasons, said the fraud was uncovered after complaints from some investors over the status of their investments.
“The investors know him well and trust he would never steal their money. He was open and there were times he would call us (his children) and tell us what was going on. He engaged an auditor in December 2019 who discovered that there was a fraud.
“In the morning of the day he was assassinated, some of his workers set fire to important office records. He was in a hotel in Ogun State when he got a call from my mother around 7am that some files had been burnt. I don’t know the amount involved in the fraud but it must be something huge for those involved to return,” he told The Punch.
The Herald on Friday reported a similar claim by the Oyo State Police Command, which said it was investigating a connection between the fire incident and the shooting of the alternative therapist.
