A 28-year-old man, Wahab Ajibose, who allegedly beat a woman, was on Thursday brought before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun.
Ajibose, who resides at 16 Ogunrinde St., Ilo-Awera Road, Ota, is facing a charge of assault.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Aug. 19 at about 9.00a.m. at Oruba Road, Sango-Ota.
Gbesi said that the accused assaulted Modinat Abiona by giving her blows in the face when a fight broke out between them.
He said that the offence contravened Section 355 of the Criminal Law of Ogun, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
In her ruling, the Senior Magistrate, Mr G. E. Akan, granted the accused bail of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Akan said that the sureties must own landed property within the court’s jurisdiction and should be gainfully employed.
In addition, she said that the sureties should show evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
The case was adjourned until Sept.12. (NAN)
