Police authorities have insisted that Senate President Bukola Saraki has a case to answer in connection to the Offa Bank Robbery of April 5 and must appear in person before the Abba Kyari-led Force Intelligence Response Team (IRT) to clear himself.
The police further debunked as false the claims by the senate president that the police had informed him to respond in writing to allegations levelled against him by the suspects in the robbery attack who claimed to be his political thugs.
Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood made these known at a re-parade of the suspected members of the gang that killed 33 persons, including nine policemen, in the dastardly attack.
Moshood stated that the confessional statements of the suspects showed that Saraki was culpable in the robbery attack, adding that two more suspects had been picked up and have reinforced the statements of the other suspects against Saraki.
However, he did not state when Saraki should present himself before the IRT or what will happen should he fail to do so.
He said, “The Nigeria Police Force will not be cowed or succumb to intimidation from any quarter in carrying out a thorough and discreet investigation into the Offa banks robbery where significant successes have been recorded.
“The ongoing investigation will be driven to a logical conclusion. Meanwhile, the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, is still under investigation in connection with the Offa banks robbery and the Nigeria Police Force will do everything possible within the ambit of the law to ensure that justice is done in this case.”
