Senate President Bukola Saraki has responded to a letter by the Nigeria Police Force demanding explanation on his alleged involvement in the infamous Offa Bank Robbery.
Dare-devil armed robbers had attacked five banks and sacked a police station in Offa town, Kwara State on April 5, killing 33 persons including nine policemen.
When the suspected robbers were arrested by police, they identified themselves as political thugs of the Senate President and Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed.
Police spokesman Jimoh Moshood had on Sunday invited Saraki to meet the Force Intelligence Response Team on his role in the incident.
However, the police allegedly backtracked and demanded a letter after the matter generated furore across the nation.
In a Thursday tweet, Saraki wrote:
In line with their request, earlier today, the Police received my response to their letter on the investigation into the Offa robbery case.
