Former President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on its candidates’ victory in Saturday’s gubernatorial elections in Imo and Kogi states.
Buhari’s congratulatory message was conveyed through his spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu on Monday.
The Herald can report that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Hope Uzodimma and Usman Ododo, both of APC, as the winners of the governorship elections in Imo and Kogi states respectively.

According to INEC, Uzodimma secured 540,308 votes to claim victory in Imo while Ododo got 446,237 votes to win in Kogi.
Reacting, Buhari congratulated the APC on the victories and thanked the people of the two states for reaffirming their confidence in the nation’s biggest political party.
“The former president thanks particularly the party leaders and the workers who laboured tirelessly to ensure the re-emergence of Senator Hope Uzodimma for his second term in Imo State, and Alhaji Usman Ododo as the new Governor of Kogi State.
“My best wishes to them for their tenure,” the former president said.
